Gosia Machon

My urge to create images and to look at images is obsessive. This also applies to the paintings and drawings produced by participants in my workshops. I can never get enough of watching how images come to life through intuitive and unpredictable processes, revealing hidden worlds in the process.

In my courses, I initiate these processes and then allow as much freedom as possible for individual development. When needed, I offer support in getting started, reflecting, and deepening the work—person-centered, curious, and nonjudgmental.

My goal is to create a space in which images emerge that are personal, idiosyncratic, and surprising—far from the pursuit of technical perfection, close to one’s own perspective and the sensitive perception and discovery of our world.

Since 2013, I have taught at art universities such as HAW Hamburg, Burg Giebichenstein Halle, Bezalel Academy Jerusalem, HBK Braunschweig, HGB Leipzig, and Muthesius University of Fine Arts Kiel.

Since 2021, I have been collaborating with the international Summer Academy Pentiment for workshops in Hamburg. The courses currently take place in the studios of "Die Schlumper".​​​
