Gosia Machon

My urge to create images and to look at images is obsessive. This also applies to the paintings and drawings produced by participants in my workshops. I can never get enough of watching how images come to life through intuitive and unpredictable processes, revealing hidden worlds in the process.

In my courses, I initiate these processes and then allow as much freedom as possible for individual development. When needed, I offer support in getting started, reflecting, and deepening the work –person-centered, curious, and nonjudgmental.

My goal is to create a space in which images emerge that are personal, idiosyncratic, and surprising – far from the pursuit of technical perfection, close to one’s own perspective and the sensitive perception and discovery of our world.

Since 2013, I have taught at art universities such as HAW Hamburg, Burg Giebichenstein Halle, Bezalel Academy Jerusalem, HBK Braunschweig, HGB Leipzig, and Muthesius University of Fine Arts Kiel.

Since 2021, I have been collaborating with the International Summer Academy Pentiment for workshops in Hamburg. The courses currently take place in the studios of "Die Schlumper".​​​
